KUCHING — The Sarawak Scout delegation’s recent five-day visit to Hong Kong and Macau marked a significant milestone in promoting youth diplomacy and cross-cultural cooperation within the global Scouting community.
Led by State Chief Commissioner John Lim Boon Beng, the delegation included several senior leaders such as Deputy Chief Commissioner Iu Chu Heng, Assistant Chief Commissioners Jeremy Sim and Fong Voon Chon, and Ting Wei Shun, who also chairs the Sarawak King’s Scout Brotherhood.
Their participation in the Hong Kong Scout Rally 2025 served as the main highlight of the visit, bringing together youth leaders from various countries to exchange ideas and celebrate the enduring values of Scouting — leadership, service, and unity.
During the event, the Sarawak team met with Dr. Wilson Lai Wai-sang, Chief Commissioner of The Scout Association of Hong Kong, where both sides discussed strengthening youth leadership programs, fostering inclusivity, and promoting sustainable development initiatives through Scouting.
The journey then continued to Macau, where discussions with the Macau Chief Commissioner opened doors for joint programs such as cultural exchanges, leadership workshops, and international youth collaborations.
“This visit has been both inspiring and educational,” said John Lim. “It deepened our understanding of Scouting’s global impact and motivated us to continue nurturing young leaders who will make a difference locally and internationally.”
The visit underscored Sarawak Scouts’ active role in advancing international partnerships and highlighted Malaysia’s broader contribution to the global Scouting fraternity.
