IPOH — Belgium’s comeback to the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, nearly two decades since their last appearance, has elevated the profile of the 2025 edition.
Coached by Shane McLeod, the team arrives with both experience and tactical refinement, having recently been tested through high-intensity European tournaments.
McLeod described the Ipoh meet as a valuable opportunity to deepen squad cohesion and expose younger players to international pressure.
“We’ve invested heavily in our preparation, and this event fits perfectly into our competitive calendar,” he remarked.
Malaysia views Belgium’s presence as both a challenge and a chance to grow. Facing a World Cup–winning side on home soil is expected to boost the competitive spirit of the Speedy Tigers, who aim to give the crowd a performance to remember.
