KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — Datuk Seri Namewee, the renowned Malaysian artist and rapper, has released his track ‘Very Shuai’ while under police investigation for the murder of Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin. The song, which was recorded in 2014, was made available on Spotify on November 5, 2025, coinciding with the day he surrendered to authorities.
The timing of the song’s release has sparked mixed reactions, as it coincides with the murder investigation that has become a focal point in Namewee’s public life. Despite the controversy, the artist had planned the song’s release prior to being implicated in the case.
The police investigation into Hsieh’s death, which initially appeared to be a sudden death, has now been reclassified as murder. Authorities are awaiting toxicology and post-mortem results.
Kuala Lumpur police have confirmed that Namewee is currently being held for six days to assist with the investigation. He was arrested previously on October 22 and has been charged with drug offences. Namewee has denied the charges and is awaiting his next court appearance for the drug case on December 18.
