Barisan Nasional (BN) is heading into the Sabah state election with a team that pairs political veterans with professionals, signalling a renewed drive to reconnect with voters while retaining its traditional strength.
Leading the charge is Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who will defend his long-held seat in Lamag, continuing his influential role within the coalition.
Meanwhile, Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin, known for his grassroots presence in Kimanis, will contest in Bongawan, a Warisan stronghold. Bung described him as “a people’s leader who has consistently remained close to his constituents.”
Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, making his first appearance in the state arena, will vie for Tempasuk, while veteran politician Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak seeks to maintain his foothold in Usukan.
BN has also introduced two medical professionals — Dr Shahnon Rizal Thaijuddin and Dr Elmiariezan Ardan — running in Sulaman and Apas, respectively. The move reflects the party’s push toward professionalism and credibility in leadership.
In Sook, PBRS Deputy President Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup will face Perikatan Nasional as BN’s candidate to reclaim the seat.
BN will contest 41 seats across Sabah, though Bung Moktar noted the final list may still evolve before nomination day on November 29.
