KOTA BELUD, November 10, 2025 — Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Salleh Said Keruak has reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people after officially accepting the mandate to once again contest the Usukan state seat.
In a Facebook statement titled “Continuing to Serve Usukan”, Salleh expressed his gratitude and sense of duty upon receiving the trust of the UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) leadership.
“Alhamdulillah, with deep gratitude and responsibility, I accept the trust to once again contest in Usukan — the place where my journey of service to the community first began,” he said.
Salleh also extended his appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, President of UMNO and Chairman of BN, as well as Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin, Chairman of UMNO Sabah, for their confidence in him to continue leading the constituency.
He emphasized that for him, political struggle is not merely about winning elections but about responsibility and continuity of service to the people.
“What has been started must be continued. Sustainable development requires sincerity, dedication, and cooperation from all parties for the well-being of the Usukan community,” he explained.
Salleh also highlighted his commitment to conduct a civil and respectful campaign, avoiding personal attacks.
“I believe good politics must be built on respect and sincerity. That is why I will campaign as a gentleman — through arguments, ideas, and a record of service, not personal attacks. We contest to serve, not to create enmity,” he said.
In closing, Salleh called on the people of Usukan to remain united and work together to strengthen the constituency’s development. “With the spirit of unity and love for our homeland, let us continue to build and strengthen Usukan for the future of the next generation,” he added.
Salleh Said Keruak previously won the N.10 Usukan seat in the 2020 Sabah state election with a majority of 4,298 votes, representing Barisan Nasional (UMNO). He remains one of the most experienced and respected political figures in Sabah’s West Coast region.
