KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 10 — The Terengganu state government is building strategic partnerships with industry leaders from Australia, Japan and South Korea to introduce sustainable, cutting-edge processing technologies for non-radioactive rare earth elements (NR-REE).
State Executive Councillor Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab. Rahman said the initiative is a major step in the state’s plan to boost its industrial competitiveness, attract high-value foreign investments, and accelerate its transition towards a green and innovation-driven economy.
He noted that these collaborations stem from foreign investment missions launched in 2022, designed to encourage technology transfer, nurture local expertise, and generate high-paying jobs.
Nurkhuzaini also revealed ongoing discussions with Oman-based companies and PETRONAS for oil field acquisitions and downstream expansion under the state-linked entity EPIC Berhad.
