Tang Jie–Ee Wei Advance to Semifinals, Eye First World Tour Title of the Season

PETALING JAYA — Malaysia’s mixed doubles world No. 4, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, are edging closer to capturing their long-awaited first World Tour title of the season after confirming their place in the Australian Open semifinals.

The top-seeded Malaysians delivered a commanding victory over Taiwan’s Ye Hong Wei–Nicole Gonzales Chan, winning 21-17, 21-15 in a 37-minute encounter.

The victory extends their head-to-head lead to 4-1, reinforcing their dominance over the Taiwanese pair.

Despite carrying an injury, Tang Jie played with remarkable composure, allowing Ee Wei to take control at the net while maintaining consistent attacks from the backcourt.

Their next challenge will be Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul–Sapsiree Taerattanachai.

In men’s doubles, Malaysia’s Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin also booked a semifinal slot after a tight three-game thriller.
