BN Waiting for Formal MIC Decision, Zahid Warns of Political Uncertainty

SEMENYIH: Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the coalition remains in the dark over MIC’s intention to leave BN, as no formal resolution or letter has been submitted to date.

Ahmad Zahid said BN has therefore not made any decision regarding MIC’s status but would act if the party fails to clarify its position.

He stressed that political decisions should be made with careful consideration, particularly as Malaysia approaches the next general election.

According to him, the political environment is expected to evolve significantly over the next two years, making strategic patience essential.

Ahmad Zahid warned that parties which act prematurely risk being sidelined in an increasingly competitive political landscape.

On the matter of IPF joining BN as a core component, he reiterated that unanimous approval from all BN parties is required under the coalition’s constitution.

He said this rule has long been in place to ensure stability and consensus within the coalition.

The statement highlights BN’s emphasis on unity, constitutional adherence and strategic foresight amid ongoing realignments in Malaysian politics.
