PETALING JAYA — Malaysia’s mixed doubles aces Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei have kept the national flag flying at the Australian Open after advancing to the final with a commanding semifinal performance.
Ranked No. 4 in the world, they dismantled Thailand’s Pakkapon Teeraratsakul–Sapsiree Taerattanachai 21–16, 21–14 in a match dominated by sharp net interceptions and superior rotation play.
They now prepare to face Indonesia’s world No. 11 partnership Jafar Hidayatullah–Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu, who have been enjoying a strong run throughout the tournament.
A victory in tomorrow’s final would give Tang Jie–Ee Wei their maiden World Tour title of the 2025 season, crucial for their momentum ahead of upcoming major events.
Malaysia’s hopes in the men’s doubles were dashed earlier after Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin suffered an unexpected defeat to rising Indonesians Raymond Indra–Nikolaus Joaquin.
This places full responsibility on the mixed doubles pair to deliver Malaysia’s only shot at glory.
