Sabah appoints Joachim, Masidi and Ewon as trio of Deputy Chief Ministers

KOTA KINABALU — Sabah moves into a new administrative era with the appointment of three Deputy Chief Ministers, each representing a major partner in the state’s coalition government.

Leading the trio is Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, who now serves as Deputy Chief Minister I while managing Works and Utilities.


Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun, known for his long experience in state administration, takes on the Finance Ministry as Deputy Chief Minister II.

UPKO’s Datuk Ewon Benedick, the youngest among the three, has been assigned the Industry, Entrepreneurship and Transport portfolio alongside the Deputy Chief Minister III position.

Their appointments were revealed by Joachim at a press conference, along with a full Cabinet lineup that includes ministers from GRS, PH and BN.


A formal swearing-in ceremony took place at Istana Seri Kinabalu, officiated by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman.
