Bukit Bangkong Residents on Edge After Suspected Tiger Attack on Livestock

IPOH — Residents of Bukit Bangkong are gripped by fear after two cattle were found dead and five others went missing, believed to have been attacked by a tiger last Friday.

Local environmental association chairman Lee Jun Man said the incident was unprecedented in the nearly 30 years the community has lived there.

“We were shocked when informed by police. We’ve never had anything like this happen before,” he said.

Several residents reportedly heard roaring days earlier, though no confirmation could be made at the time.

Cattle farmer Abdul Rahman Sahul Hamid discovered his animals missing during routine checks and later found two carcasses bearing claw marks and severe neck wounds.

Police and wildlife officers inspected the area and found fresh tiger footprints.

Trap cameras are being monitored for further movement.

Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin confirmed the report and assured heightened monitoring.
