Appeal Hearing on Isa Samad’s Acquittal Rescheduled to February 5

PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court has set February 5 as the new date to hear the prosecution’s appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision to acquit former FELDA chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad of nine corruption charges.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz confirmed the update following an online case management session. The original hearing on December 4 was postponed after Mohd Isa was admitted to hospital.

The prosecution is seeking to overturn the Court of Appeal’s ruling and reinstate the High Court’s conviction and sentence, which included six years’ imprisonment and a RM15.45 million fine.

The case involves allegations of RM3.09 million in bribes under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
