Outcome of Rosmah’s Corruption Appeal Hinges on Federal Court Decision

KUALA LUMPUR: Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor’s appeal against her corruption conviction will only proceed after the Federal Court rules on her challenge to the judge who presided over her trial, placing the future of the case in a holding pattern.

Rosmah was convicted in 2022 over a solar project for Sarawak schools and sentenced to 10 years in prison with a RM970 million fine, though the sentence has been stayed.

Separately, she was acquitted of 17 money laundering and tax-related charges involving RM7 million in 2024, after the prosecution withdrew its appeal.

Datuk Mohamed Zaini Mazlan, the judge at the centre of Rosmah’s recusal bid, has since been elevated to the Court of Appeal, further complicating the legal landscape surrounding the high-profile case.
