MELAKA: In a move to address growing concerns over student discipline and character development, the Melaka state government has introduced 10 major resolutions aimed at creating a more structured and accountable education environment.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the resolutions emerged from a special convention involving education authorities, parents, community representatives and strategic partners.
The proposals include stronger enforcement against parental neglect, controlled disciplinary measures with parental consent, and greater community involvement in monitoring schools.
Melaka also plans to tighten regulations on harmful digital content, restrict the sale of vape products near schools, and enhance mental health support systems for students.
In addition, the state has proposed mandatory participation in national service-style programmes to build discipline and civic responsibility.
All measures will be coordinated under a comprehensive framework known as the Anak Melaka Discipline Plan (PDAM).
Ab Rauf said the state aims to position itself as a national benchmark for holistic student development that integrates discipline, character and academic achievement.
