KTMB Introduces New Klang Valley Komuter Timetable as KVDT2 Progresses

KUALA LUMPUR: Commuters using the KTM Komuter service in the Klang Valley will see operational changes starting January 1, following the introduction of a revised timetable aligned with the ongoing Klang Valley Double Tracking Project Phase Two (KVDT2).

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said the updated schedule applies to the Tanjung Malim–Pelabuhan Klang and Pulau Sebang–Batu Caves routes, both of which form the backbone of the region’s commuter rail network.

According to KTMB, the timetable adjustment reflects improvements in track stability and operational capacity as infrastructure upgrading works under KVDT2 continue to progress.

The company said the changes aim to enhance journey smoothness, optimise train movements along affected corridors and deliver more consistent services for daily commuters.

With the new timetable in place, shuttle bus services previously provided along the Subang Jaya–Pelabuhan Klang route and at certain intermediate stations will be discontinued. Instead, train services will resume full two-way operations along the Pelabuhan Klang route during morning and evening peak periods.

To accommodate strong passenger demand, KTMB will maintain a 30-minute service frequency during peak hours on both the Pelabuhan Klang–Kuala Lumpur and Tanjung Malim–Kuala Lumpur routes.

In addition, two new morning services from Tanjung Malim to Pelabuhan Klang and one service to Shah Alam will be introduced, catering to commuters travelling from northern Selangor and southern Perak into the Klang Valley.

KTMB also confirmed that daily maintenance and track closures will continue between 11am and 3pm. During this period, no passenger train services will operate on the Pelabuhan Klang–KL Sentral–Pelabuhan Klang section to allow infrastructure works to be carried out safely.

Similar timetable adjustments have been made to the Pulau Sebang–Batu Caves route to improve network coordination and reduce transfer waiting times, with 30-minute peak-hour frequencies retained.

KTMB said operations along the Pelabuhan Klang sector will continue using a single track between Abdullah Hukum Station and Pelabuhan Klang Station during the transition period, with full KVDT2 completion expected by 2029.
