Datuk Megat Jalaluddin Megat Hassan has been honoured as Madani Best CEO of the Year at the Madani Business Awards 2025, recognising his leadership in guiding Tenaga Nasional Bhd through a critical phase of Malaysia’s energy transition.
As CEO of the national utility, Megat Jalaluddin has been instrumental in translating the National Energy Transition Roadmap into concrete initiatives that balance sustainability, reliability and economic growth.
The judging panel highlighted TNB’s success in modernising grid infrastructure through the Grid of the Future initiative, which leverages automation, digitalisation and smart technologies to enhance efficiency and system resilience.
During his tenure, TNB has also invested significantly in renewable energy projects, including large-scale solar developments and battery energy storage systems, strengthening Malaysia’s ability to integrate clean energy into the national grid.
Despite the scale of transformation, TNB has maintained stable financial and operational performance. The adoption of artificial intelligence, big data analytics and automated systems has improved decision-making, customer engagement and operational efficiency.
Another key area of focus has been the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem. Through the Electron charging network, TNB has played a central role in supporting EV adoption nationwide and advancing low-carbon mobility.
Internationally, TNB has expanded its renewable energy footprint through strategic overseas investments, reinforcing its position as a competitive global utility player.
The award also recognises Megat Jalaluddin’s strong emphasis on ethical governance, financial prudence, talent development and inclusive growth, reflecting the core principles of the Madani Economy.
