Voltage Energy Achieves Industry-First UL Certification for Full-System 2kV EBOS Solution

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina: Voltage Energy Group has reached a major milestone in the solar energy sector after securing UL Solutions certification for its full-system 2kV Electrical Balance of System (EBOS), positioning the company among the first providers to achieve system-level validation for a 2kV photovoltaic architecture.

Awarded in December 2025, the certification covers Voltage Energy’s comprehensive EBOS solution for 2kV PV cable applications, including the LYNX®, IBEX®, IBEX PLUS® and ALEX® product families, in accordance with UL 9703 requirements.

The achievement comes as utility-scale solar developers increasingly explore the transition from 1,500 VDC systems to 2kV designs, driven by the potential to increase energy yield, lower capital expenditures and enhance long-term system reliability.

UL Solutions confirmed that Voltage Energy’s 2kV EBOS successfully completed full verification testing for system-level performance and safety, making it one of the earliest solutions validated for commercial deployment at this voltage level.

Angel Lopez, Director of Quality at Voltage Energy, said the certification reflects the company’s commitment to enabling next-generation PV system designs through integrated, validated solutions.

“Moving to 2kV is not a simple component upgrade. It requires coordinated validation across modules, inverters and EBOS, supported by aligned standards and cross-testing to reduce uncertainty during field deployment,” he said.

The system-level certification provides developers, EPC contractors and investors with increased confidence when adopting 2kV architectures, helping to mitigate technical and operational risks.

UL Solutions Asia Regional General Manager Evan Xiao said unified system validation and repeatable installation practices are essential to scaling the 2kV ecosystem globally.

“Voltage Energy’s certification demonstrates continued investment in system integration and verification, offering the market a clear reference point for evaluating reliable 2kV deployments,” he said.

Following the certification, Voltage Energy said it will continue supporting EPCs and developers through design collaboration, technical onboarding and training programmes aimed at standardising engineering and installation practices for 2kV solar projects.
