Durian Tunggal Case: AGC Says Public Commentary Must Not Jeopardise Investigation

KUALA LUMPUR: The Attorney General’s Chambers has warned that public speculation surrounding the Durian Tunggal shooting could undermine the ongoing investigation and affect confidence in the judicial process.

The AGC said the case is still under active investigation by a special team from the Royal Malaysia Police, and emphasised that the integrity of the process must be preserved.

“Members of the public with relevant information or evidence are encouraged to cooperate fully with the authorities to assist in establishing the facts of the case,” the statement said.

The Chambers assured that any decision on prosecution would be guided solely by the law and the strength of admissible evidence, without regard to external opinions or public sentiment.

The shooting incident occurred on Nov 24 at an oil palm plantation in Durian Tunggal, resulting in the deaths of three men aged between 24 and 29.

Following allegations raised by the victims’ families, Bukit Aman later formed a special investigation team, and the case was reclassified under Section 302 of the Penal Code on Dec 16.
