IPOH: A total of RM18.4 million in business zakat contributions from 11 corporate organisations was officially handed over to Zakat Perak Al-Ridzuan (Zapar) at a ceremony graced by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah today.
Affin Islamic Bank Berhad opened the proceedings with a zakat payment of RM250,000, followed by Agro Bank’s contribution of RM174,598 and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad’s RM879,000.
Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad contributed RM373,322.12, while Bank Rakyat and Bank Simpanan Nasional paid RM1.35 million and RM136,000 respectively.
Major contributions were also made by Lembaga Air Perak with RM4.51 million, Maybank Islamic Berhad with RM1.2 million and Perbadanan Ekonomi Islam Perak Sdn. Bhd. amounting to RM1.415 million.
Public Islamic Bank Berhad handed over RM300,000, while Tenaga Nasional Berhad emerged as the largest contributor with RM7.812 million in zakat payments.
During the ceremony, Sultan Nazrin also presented his business and income zakat to the President of MAIPk, Tan Sri Mohd Annuar Zaini.
The event took place at the Royal Perak Golf Club and was attended by state leaders and senior religious officials, reflecting continued collaboration between the corporate sector and Islamic institutions in Perak.
