Malaysia’s Export Acceleration Mission to Cambodia Generates RM41.29 Million in Sales

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s efforts to strengthen its export footprint in ASEAN markets continued to bear fruit as the Export Acceleration Mission (EAM) to Cambodia generated potential sales worth RM41.29 million.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) said the mission, held from November 25 to 27, 2025, underscored Malaysia’s commitment to deepening trade and investment ties with Cambodia, one of the region’s fastest-growing economies.

According to Matrade, the sales value was achieved through 104 business matching sessions arranged between Malaysian exporters and Cambodian buyers, reflecting strong interest in Malaysian products across multiple sectors.

“These encouraging results were driven by demand for fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), food and beverages, personal care products, detergents, agricultural inputs such as fertilisers, as well as petroleum-based products,” the agency said in a statement.

A key highlight of the mission was the Malaysia–Cambodia Business Seminar held on November 26, which brought together senior government officials, industry associations and business leaders from both countries.

Cambodia’s Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce, Sim Sokheng, welcomed Matrade’s continued efforts to deepen bilateral economic engagement and expressed Cambodia’s strong interest in increasing imports from Malaysia.

He also reiterated the Cambodian government’s aspiration to raise bilateral trade between Malaysia and Cambodia to US$1 billion by the end of 2025. As of October 2025, trade between the two countries had already reached US$960 million, putting the target well within reach.

The seminar also featured insights from the President of the Federation of Associations for SMEs of Cambodia (FASMEC), Oknha Te Taingpor, and a board member of the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC), Ren Sina.

Both leaders highlighted growing opportunities for Malaysian exporters to collaborate with Cambodia’s expanding SME ecosystem and rising young entrepreneur community.

Matrade noted that Malaysia’s trade engagement in Cambodia continues to gain momentum, supported by rising consumer purchasing power, an expanding middle class and increasing demand for high-quality imported goods.
