Ahead of verdict, AGC says Najib’s ‘unfair trial’ claims already debated in court

KUALA LUMPUR – The Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) today said claims by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah that Datuk Seri Najib Razak did not receive a fair trial in the 1MDB case are not new, as they had already been raised and argued before the High Court.

In a statement, the AGC stressed that all matters related to Najib’s trial were addressed during proceedings between August 28, 2019 and November 4, 2025.

The AGC reiterated its commitment to conducting prosecutions independently, fairly and with integrity.

Yesterday, Shafee’s law firm issued a four-page statement repeating arguments that Najib faced unfair circumstances, including alleged lack of access to certain evidence, Jho Low’s absence, and prosecution witnesses not being charged. Shafee also acknowledged these points had been previously presented in court.

The High Court is scheduled to deliver its verdict on Najib’s 25 1MDB-related charges next Friday.
