KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s remarkable achievements at the Osaka World Expo 2025 have been hailed as a milestone that successfully enhanced national branding, encouraged international cooperation and stimulated significant economic opportunities. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said Malaysia’s participation reflected commitment, strategic planning and effective collaboration across multiple levels of government and industry.
The Malaysia Pavilion stood out with its bamboo weaving-inspired design, symbolising heritage, unity and forward-thinking innovation. Carrying the theme “Weaving a Future in Harmony,” the pavilion aligned with the expo’s mission of envisioning a sustainable and inclusive future.
International visitors responded enthusiastically, with more than 3.52 million people experiencing what Malaysia had to offer. Among the most talked-about highlights was the “Flying Roti Canai” showcase, which gained widespread recognition and elevated Malaysia’s cultural diplomacy through culinary engagement.
Beyond visitor engagement, the pavilion also functioned as a mini ASEAN hub, strengthening regional bonds, encouraging dialogue and presenting ASEAN unity to global audiences. This reaffirmed Malaysia’s proactive role in championing cooperation within Southeast Asia.
Economic outcomes were equally impressive, with Malaysia recording RM24.45 billion in potential trade and investment. This exceeded projections and signalled strong international interest in partnering with Malaysia’s industries and economic sectors.
Fadillah credited the achievements to a whole-of-government approach, involving ministries, state authorities, government agencies and hundreds of Malaysian companies working together. He praised the dedication of the pavilion team throughout the 184-day event and expressed appreciation to former leaders who contributed to early planning.
He said the success of Malaysia’s involvement should serve as motivation for continued national advancement, stronger economic positioning and sustained international relevance.
