PETALING JAYA — Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) has firmly rejected Pas’ claim that the party has been sidelined simply because it was not appointed to lead the Islamic Affairs portfolio, stressing instead that Amanah remains deeply involved in several major sectors of government administration.
Amanah Human Resources Director Suhaizan Kaiat said it is misguided to assume a party’s significance in government is tied to a single ministry. He emphasised that Amanah leaders are entrusted with responsibilities in ministries critical to national welfare, economic stability and public well-being.
He cited Amanah’s positions in the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, the Health Ministry, and deputy ministerial posts in Defence and Local Government Development as proof of continued trust in the party’s capabilities.
Pas Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man recently questioned why Amanah was not appointed to the Islamic Affairs portfolio. However, Amanah insists the party remains committed to governance regardless of which portfolio it holds.
Separately, Amanah Election Director Mohd. Sany Hamzan argued that Pas’ persistent attacks on the government reflect internal discord within PN rather than genuine concerns. He said contradictions in statements from PN leaders recently, particularly in Sabah, show growing differences within the coalition.
Mohd. Sany added that Amanah has no issue with the inclusion of professional figures in the Cabinet, saying it demonstrates the Unity Government’s inclusive governance approach, combining political leadership and expert administration to strengthen national management.
