Beyond Flood Relief: MTSP Strengthens Role as Community Support Pillar

KUANTAN — The Pahang Social Action Council (MTSP) continues to strengthen its role as an active community support organisation, positioning itself as a key frontline force during disasters and post-crisis situations. MTSP Indera Mahkota chairman, Nik Mohd Ridzuan Kamarudin, stressed that the NGO’s role is not limited to emergency moments but operates consistently year-round to support the public.

He said MTSP acts as both a relief body and a social listening platform, ensuring community concerns are heard and addressed through organised initiatives and collaborative partnerships. “MTSP does not only appear when disaster strikes. Our duty includes supporting broader civic needs and helping resolve issues affecting families and neighbourhoods,” he said.

More than 200 volunteers participated in a large-scale clean-up programme at PR1MA Sungai Karang, assisting affected residents with house cleaning, environmental restoration and post-flood rehabilitation efforts.

The programme was also supported by Datuk Seri Ismail Mohd Said and Datuk Mustafar Kamal Abdul Hamid, who joined volunteers on the ground. Mustafar expressed deep appreciation for volunteers from Kuala Krau who showed excellent solidarity by travelling to assist despite geographical distance. Ismail stated that 103 volunteers came from Kuala Krau, reflecting community unity and high volunteer spirit.

MTSP aims to continue strengthening post-disaster relief response while promoting community resilience and preparedness.
