Festive Season Seen as Opportunity to Renew Spirit of Togetherness and National Harmony

KUALA LUMPUR – As Malaysians celebrate Christmas, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has reminded citizens that festive occasions should go beyond celebration, serving instead as a platform to deepen national unity and reinforce shared values.

In his message, he urged Malaysians to remain considerate of sensitivities involving faith, culture and ethnicity, noting that careless speech or actions could risk tension or misunderstanding. He stressed that safeguarding harmony requires responsibility and awareness from all segments of society.

Fadillah said Malaysia’s diversity represents a powerful strength, not a barrier, and should continue to be embraced as a unifying force. With tolerance, respect and understanding, festive events can strengthen social cohesion and encourage cooperation among communities.

He emphasised that unity forms the foundation for stability and economic resilience, ensuring a secure future for the nation. In line with the Madani Government’s aspirations, he called for continued commitment towards peace, inclusiveness and shared prosperity.

He concluded by expressing hope that the unity Malaysians enjoy today will not only be preserved but strengthened for generations to come.
