Police Confirm Arrest of Suspect in Desa Palma Blast, Investigation Continues After Multiple Devices Seized

Police in Negeri Sembilan have confirmed the arrest of a man believed to be the central figure in the Desa Palma explosion incident that occurred on December 22. The arrest marks a major step forward in efforts to safeguard public security and uncover the full circumstances surrounding the blast.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad stated that the suspect, 62-year-old Yeoh Hock Sun or Ayang, was detained in Mantin after coordinated enforcement action. He said the suspect is currently receiving medical treatment following injuries sustained, while remaining under strict police supervision. A detailed official statement is expected to be released once procedural matters are completed.

Earlier investigations revealed that the suspect was believed to have considerable technical knowledge in handling and producing explosive materials. This suspicion was supported further when police searching his rented house discovered related devices and equipment believed to be used for constructing explosive items.

Authorities then made another disturbing discovery when 31 more improvised explosive devices were uncovered at the same residence. All of the devices were safely neutralised by police to ensure that they no longer pose any threat to residents or the surrounding area.

The incident originally came to light when residents reported an explosion and noticed nails scattered at the scene early in the morning. Police immediately responded, sealed off the area and launched a thorough investigation.

Datuk Alzafny said investigations are now focused on understanding the suspect’s intentions, background and potential external connections. Forensic analysis, witness interviews and supporting evidence collection are ongoing to build a clearer and more complete picture of the situation.

He called on members of the public to stay composed and refrain from circulating unverified information or sensational speculation, warning that such actions may create panic and disrupt investigative processes. Instead, he encouraged the public to channel any credible information directly to law enforcement.

Police reiterated that ensuring community safety remains their foremost priority. The arrest of the suspect and the destruction of the devices are seen as critical steps in preventing possible danger.

Authorities assured that investigations will proceed meticulously, and further announcements will be made as the case progresses. For now, police maintain that the situation is under control and public security remains firmly safeguarded.
