PAS Youth Calls for Leadership Shift in PN Amid Perlis Crisis, Pushes Abdul Hadi as New Chairman

KUALA LUMPUR — The political deadlock in Perlis has triggered a fresh leadership debate within Perikatan Nasional (PN), as PAS Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden urged PAS to assume control of the coalition.

He argued that Bersatu’s alleged failure to discipline its assemblymen who reportedly rejected Mohd Shukri Ramli through statutory declarations signalled weak leadership, adding that such behaviour amounted to betrayal of coalition partners.

Afnan proposed PAS President Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang as the new PN chairman, replacing Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and called for a restructured coalition under the concept of PN 2.0 and Muafakat Nasional 2.0.

Muhyiddin, however, maintained that no directive was issued to Bersatu representatives to sign any declarations, stressing that the party merely complied with royal instructions to submit a candidate.

The dispute has already resulted in the termination of three PAS assemblymen’s membership.
