KUALA LUMPUR — Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Bukit Bintang is set to take on a new night-time identity as the Bukit Bintang Star-Lit Street Festival transforms the city centre into a vibrant celebration of culture, creativity and urban tourism in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
The two-day festival, scheduled for January 3 and 4, 2026, from noon until midnight outside Plaza Low Yat, aims to offer both local and international visitors a deeper, more immersive experience of Kuala Lumpur beyond its daytime attractions.
As a flagship urban event under VM2026, the festival will feature live music, cultural showcases, creative arts, street food offerings and interactive experiences designed to highlight Malaysia’s diversity and the dynamic energy of its capital city after dark.
Manoharan Periasamy, chairman of Tourism Malaysia, said the event reflects a shift in tourist expectations from passive sightseeing to participatory experiences.
“Bukit Bintang is among Malaysia’s most popular destinations, but visitors often ask what else there is to do beyond visiting iconic landmarks. They want to participate in experiences, and this festival provides the perfect platform to showcase Malaysia’s culture, creativity and vibrancy,” he said at a media briefing today.
The festival is organised by Sage Legacy Sdn Bhd, managed by E-Plus Entertainment Productions (M) Sdn Bhd, and supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall and various tourism and community partners.
