KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court today dismissed the defamation suit filed by Datuk Seri Mujahid Yusof Rawa against PAS, following an out-of-court settlement reached between both parties after nearly three years of litigation.
The case originated from a PAS Facebook posting in 2022 that linked Mujahid to the LGBT community, prompting him to file a defamation action on December 15, 2022.
PAS was sued via its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
Counsel for Mujahid informed the court that both sides had agreed to settle, with undisclosed terms, and that Mujahid would withdraw the case entirely without any cost orders. PAS’ legal representative confirmed the agreement.
Judge Roslan Mat Nor thanked both parties for their willingness to settle the matter, describing it as a constructive step forward.
In a joint statement, both parties stated that resolving the case amicably was in the best interest of the nation. Takiyuddin issued an apology without admission of liability, while Mujahid accepted the gesture and withdrew the suit.
Mujahid’s initial claim alleged reputational damage and humiliation arising from PAS’ social media publication, for which he had sought compensation and an order to remove the content.
