KOTA TINGGI — The Ministry of Defence has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding integrity within the Malaysian Armed Forces, stressing that corruption and abuse of power will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the ministry takes all allegations seriously but cautioned against making claims without substantiated evidence, which could damage the armed forces’ standing.
Following allegations involving a senior military officer, Mohamed Khaled confirmed that the matter is being investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and that the officer has been temporarily relieved of duties.
He added that robust governance mechanisms, including asset declarations and inter-agency vetting, remain a priority to ensure transparency and accountability in military leadership appointments.
The minister said Mindef remains committed to safeguarding public trust while allowing investigations to proceed independently and fairly.
