KUALA LUMPUR: More than 12,000 traffic summonses were issued and 390 vehicles seized during the nationwide Ops Ambang Tahun Baharu 2026 conducted by police from 9pm to 2am.
Bukit Aman Traffic chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said 25 individuals were arrested under the Road Transport Act, while 20 others were detained for drug-related offences, along with several arrests under other laws.
The large-scale operation involved nearly 3,000 police personnel with support from multiple enforcement agencies.
Conducted across 240 strategic locations, the operation aimed to maintain safety and regulate traffic during New Year celebrations.
