IPOH — The Malaysian government has approved a RM40 million allocation to resurface residential roads across the state of Perak, in a move aimed at improving road safety and living conditions for local communities.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the funding will enable local authorities to repair and resurface nearly 800 residential roads statewide.
The allocation includes an additional RM20 million on top of an earlier RM20 million previously channelled to the Ipoh City Council, bringing the total investment to RM40 million.
“Previously, RM20 million was allocated to resurface about 400 roads in Ipoh. Today, we are extending the benefit to the entire state so that all Perakians can enjoy safer and better roads,” he said during a site visit in Ipoh.
The additional funds will be distributed among several municipal councils, including Manjung, Teluk Intan and Taiping, while the remaining amount will be allocated to other district councils.
Nga said resurfacing works will begin immediately and are expected to be completed before the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season.
