PETALING JAYA – The official handing over of duties for the Youth and Sports Minister was held in Bangkok in a vibrant ceremony held alongside Malaysia’s participation in the 33rd SEA Games.
Hannah Yeoh formally handed over her duties to newly appointed Youth and Sports Minister, Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, witnessed by senior officials from the Youth and Sports Ministry and members of the Malaysian contingent.
In a statement, Hannah expressed appreciation to ministry staff, agencies and stakeholders for their support during her service and expressed confidence that the ministry will continue to progress under new leadership.
Dr Mohammed Taufiq affirmed his commitment to continuing ongoing policies while focusing on athlete welfare and youth empowerment initiatives.
The ceremony followed the Cabinet reshuffle announced by the Prime Minister on 16 December, which resulted in Hannah’s appointment as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories).
Also present were KBS Secretary-General Datuk Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, Olympic Council of Malaysia President Tan Sri Norza Zakaria and representatives of Team Malaysia in Bangkok.
