KUALA LUMPUR — DAP has strongly condemned the recent violent attack involving the son of Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli, describing it as a cowardly and inhumane act that has no place in a civilised society.
In a statement issued today, DAP Chief Whip Khoo Poay Tiong expressed sympathy on behalf of all DAP Members of Parliament to Rafizi and his family following the incident, which took place at a shopping mall in Putrajaya yesterday evening.
“We strongly denounce all forms of political violence, especially when it involves family members. This act is cowardly, brutal, and completely unacceptable in any civilised society,” said Khoo.
He urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to act swiftly and conduct a thorough, transparent, and independent investigation to bring those responsible to justice.
“In addition to identifying the suspect urgently, we call on the police to provide regular updates to the public and implement preventive measures to ensure such incidents do not happen again.”
Khoo stressed that no one, including politicians and their families, should be subjected to threats or physical attacks because of their political stance.
“DAP stands firmly with Rafizi Ramli during this difficult time. We pray that he and his family will find strength, peace, and protection from further threats,” he said.
He also called on all parties to reject the culture of political violence, protect democracy, and ensure that differences in opinion are resolved through legal, peaceful, and civilised means.
The attack has drawn widespread condemnation from across the political spectrum. Investigations are currently underway.
