New SAFVA–MyPOST Alliance Set to Transform Sabah’s Creative Industry

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — A major step forward for Sabah’s creative ecosystem was taken today as SAFVA and MyPOST formalised a strategic partnership through a Letter of Intent (LoI) to strengthen Malaysia’s post-production landscape.

The collaboration aims to build a skilled, future-ready workforce while establishing consistent post-production standards nationwide. It also seeks to close the gap between regional and national creative capabilities.

SAFVA president Chester Pang described the partnership as “a proactive step” toward empowering Sabah’s creative professionals through sustainable talent and technology development.

MyPOST chairman Tc. Isazaly Mohd Isa said the association will facilitate knowledge transfer through practical and accessible training methods, combining remote learning with focused in-person workshops.

“We want to ensure Sabah’s filmmakers and producers can meet global standards without high costs becoming a barrier,” he said.

The LoI will pave the way for a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), ensuring a long-term collaboration between both associations. Two flagship workshops will kickstart the initiative in 2026 — one emphasising business and compliance standards, and another highlighting creative and technical advancement.

Industry observers see the partnership as a potential catalyst for professionalising East Malaysia’s post-production sector, aligning local expertise with international benchmarks.
