Nvidia Chief Foresees China Emerging as AI Powerhouse

BEIJING — Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang believes China is on track to surpass the United States in the global race for artificial intelligence supremacy.

During the Financial Times Future of AI Summit in Beijing, Huang said China trails the US by only “a few nanoseconds” in AI progress, highlighting the country’s rapid advancements despite ongoing trade and technology restrictions. He warned that the US must act quickly by investing in innovation and drawing global expertise to retain its competitive edge.

Analysts say Huang’s comments underscore shifting dynamics in the tech industry, where China’s massive research investments and talent base are narrowing the gap long dominated by Silicon Valley.

Given Nvidia’s pivotal role in supplying GPUs that drive AI systems worldwide, Huang’s forecast is being taken seriously across both political and economic circles.

Although Nvidia’s spokesperson declined to comment further, the company reiterated its long-standing goal to support AI development globally.
