Government Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Collaboration with Civil Society — Fadillah

The government remains committed to deepening cooperation with civil society organisations as part of national development efforts, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

Fadillah, who is also the Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, said constructive engagement between the government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) is vital for shaping policies that are inclusive, effective and reflective of real community needs.

He noted that over the past two decades, the Malaysian Chinese Assembly Hall (MCAH) has served as a respected conduit between the public and policymakers, representing nearly 200 Chinese NGOs active in education, culture, business, youth development and social welfare.

Speaking at the MCAH’s 22nd Anniversary Celebration and the Second Chinese Elite Dragon Award (CEDA) Gala Dinner, Fadillah emphasised that such organisations play a key role in strengthening policy formulation by providing honest feedback, grounded perspectives and practical recommendations.

The event was attended by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing, MCAH President Datuk Seri KK Chai, diplomats and representatives from around 50 embassies and high commissions.

Fadillah said MCAH’s contributions align with the Malaysia MADANI framework, which centres on compassion, inclusivity and justice. He highlighted that MCAH’s community programmes have benefited Malaysians of various backgrounds, including Malays, Chinese, Indians and indigenous groups in Sabah and Sarawak.

He added that the government looks forward to closer collaboration with MCAH and its network of NGOs to promote unity, strengthen trust and empower communities nationwide.

Fadillah also congratulated recipients of the Chinese Elite Dragon Award, describing them as exemplary individuals whose achievements demonstrate excellence, resilience and integrity.

Among those honoured were Bernama Chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai, who received the Most Influential Chinese Media Personality Award; former Transport Minister Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award; Nirvana Asia founder Tan Sri Kong Hon Kong; and USB flash drive inventor Datuk Pua Khein-Seng.

Paralympic double gold medallist Cheah Liek Hou and world tower runner Soh Wai Ching were also recognised with the Outstanding Chinese Athlete Award.
