Malaysia’s political and business circles are watching closely as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim prepares to deliver his 2026 New Year Address after chairing a special Cabinet meeting in Putrajaya.
According to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the address is expected to include important announcements on economic recovery, education reforms and institutional restructuring.
Loke said the government recognises growing dissatisfaction within the business sector and is working to restore confidence through concrete policy measures.
He added that Anwar has emphasised collective decision-making with coalition partners following the disappointing Sabah election results, describing the episode as a lesson for the government moving forward.
With Melaka expected to head to the polls later this year, Loke stressed the need for swift implementation of reforms to ensure political stability and public trust in 2026.
