KUANTAN: UMNO Youth Indera Mahkota has defended the integrity of the Auditor-General’s Report, warning that baseless criticism of the document could undermine public confidence in Malaysia’s system of checks and balances.
Its chief, Nik Mohd. Ridzuan Kamarudin, said the report is a cornerstone of transparent governance and should not be politicised or dismissed without factual grounds.
“The Auditor-General’s role is constitutionally protected and essential in ensuring accountability in public finance,” he said.
Nik Mohd. Ridzuan urged political leaders to engage with the report responsibly and called for a retraction and apology over remarks that allegedly questioned the Auditor-General’s competence.
He emphasised that safeguarding institutional integrity is crucial to maintaining public trust and democratic governance.
