Police uncover illicit cigarette storage house in Klang, seize RM320,000 worth of contraband

KUALA LUMPUR — A terraced house secretly used to store smuggled cigarettes has been uncovered following a police raid in Klang, leading to the arrest of a man in his late 60s.

The operation, conducted under Op Taring Alpha 1 by the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 4, took place around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

Battalion commander Superintendent Amanjit Singh said officers discovered 750 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes and seized a Nissan Almera, believed to be used to transport the contraband.

Investigations revealed the house served as a storage hub before the cigarettes were distributed to markets around Selangor and the Klang Valley.

The seized items are valued at approximately RM320,000.

All items were taken to the South Klang District Police Headquarters for investigation under the Customs Act 1967.

Police have reminded the public to assist authorities by reporting smuggling activities to ensure such illegal operations can be curbed effectively.
