Three Perlis State Seats Declared Vacant Following PAS Membership Termination, Speaker Confirms

KANGAR — The Perlis political situation has intensified after Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, Rus’sele Eizan, confirmed that three state constituencies now face unexpected vacancies following the immediate termination of PAS membership involving their representatives.

The affected constituencies are Chuping, Bintong and Guar Sanji.

The decision was made after the Speaker received an official notice under Clause (3) of Article 50A and subsequently conducted a legal and procedural review in accordance with the Perlis State Constitution. He concluded that the circumstances fulfilled the provisions outlined in Clause (1)(a)(ii) of Article 50A.

Rus’sele stated that the matter will soon be formally referred to the Election Commission for further action and determination of the next course of procedure.

The development follows PAS’ announcement — delivered by party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang — that the three assemblymen, Saad Seman, Fakhrul Anwar Ismail and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim, had ceased party membership under provisions of the amended PAS Constitution.

The announcement marks another significant episode in Perlis’ ongoing political crisis, with attention now turning toward the Election Commission’s response and potential political consequences ahead.
