KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is poised to welcome 2026 with renewed spirit, stronger determination and greater unity as the state prepares to enter a more progressive development phase through the implementation of Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) 2.0, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
In his New Year message, Hajiji reflected on the journey throughout 2025 and said the achievements recorded demonstrated the effectiveness of the government’s continuous efforts to strengthen Sabah’s development agenda under SMJ 1.0.
He noted that SMJ 2.0 has been crafted to build upon these foundations, expanding development in a more structured and inclusive manner to ensure every community in Sabah enjoys the benefits of progress.
“With SMJ 2.0, we want to elevate Sabah’s growth to a higher level. Our focus remains on sustainable economic development, effective governance and ensuring our people benefit fairly from every success achieved,” he said.
Hajiji thanked the people of Sabah for their renewed trust and support, describing the mandate as a responsibility that strengthens the government’s resolve to continue leading the state with accountability.
“With continued political stability, strong governance and the support of the people, we will continue to move Sabah forward,” he said.
He added that years of consistent efforts have created a stable, peaceful and conducive environment for Sabah’s development, which is now beginning to show meaningful results.
Hajiji also encouraged Sabahans to remain united and supportive of the government’s development agenda to ensure the state continues progressing.
“I hope 2026 brings good health, peace and success to all Sabahans. With unity, commitment and shared determination, I believe Sabah will continue moving forward towards a brighter and more prosperous future,” he said.
