Man and Woman Arrested in Dungun for Alleged Possession of Yaba Pills

DUNGUN — Police arrested a man and a woman early this morning after allegedly finding them in possession of a large quantity of Yaba pills during an operation along Jalan Felda Kerteh Ketengah Jaya.

Dungun District Police Chief Maizura Abdul Kadir said the suspects, aged 33 and 39, were detained at about 1am following a police inspection in the area.

She said officers seized pills believed to be Yaba, weighing a total of 178.68 grammes, with an estimated street value of RM13,401.

“Based on the quantity seized, police believe the drugs were intended for distribution,” she said in a statement today.

Initial urine tests showed that the male suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, while the female suspect tested negative for drugs.

Police are now conducting further investigations to identify the source of the drugs and any distribution network linked to the suspects.

Both individuals have been remanded for seven days starting today to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries severe penalties upon conviction.

The police reiterated their commitment to intensifying efforts against drug trafficking in the Dungun district and urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drugs.
